What this again?
I quoted the 40's std. practice sheet on the locomotive paint scheme over a year ago. I hope you believe Earl. The '37 issue is also real.
I wish my scanner was working as maybe the real thing will finally convience(sp) some of you dis-believers.
Seriously, away from the big terminals, some libertys could be taken without too much notice. And the slim gauge, being kind of an unwanted step child in the minds of some upper management types, less concern about apperance was OK.
Probably one of the last "officially sanctioned" paint changes was the Bumble Bee paint job on the 268 for the Fair operation in '48(?). And it lasted on the engine after return and in regular service out of Gunnision for awile. I think until scrapping of the line in '55.
Oh well.............
