I've been searching all over the net and in my books for details on reefer operations on the D&RGW and RGS. All I've mangaged to find is that the Durango ice house was supplied by cutting ice from frozen lakes in the winter. I'd like to know how the reefers were loaded. Were they loaded with blocks of ice, chunks, crushed ice? How long did the ice last? And, does anyone know of any pictures of the ice house in Ridgway, CO?
