2007 Narrow Gauge Convention Portland, Maine

December 22, 2006 03:10PM
For an extra, extra special event at the Narrow Gauge convention coming in August, 2007 to Portland, Maine. The directors of the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad and Museum are considering taking the PARLOR car RANGELEY out of the museum and onto the main line of the railroad for some very special trips. This is a FUND raiser to help retire the mortgage on our equipment. The RANGELEY may be the most original Jackson and Sharpe Parlor car in existence. Built in 1901 and used on the SR&RL as an extra fare car until downgraded to coach status it has spent the majority of its life indoors. RANGELEY was never updated with modern appliances as it was isolated from the general railroad system. The interior is quite complete with the original mohair swivel seats, rugs, lamps, Baker heater, etc. Not sure the last time this car carried passengers may have been in the fifties. Do not miss this very rare oppurtunity for a ride and to help the Maine Narrow Gauge retire the note. There will be several ticket options available and please call the Maine Narrow Gauge at 207-828-0814 for further information. If you are interested please call. This car seats 22 passengers. We are trying to see what interest there might be for this very special event.
