But wanted to share them here.
This past weekend, we fired up Pere Marquette 1225 for the first time in nearly a year. Here is the short list of work our shop crew did over the past year:
-New rear corners.
-350 flexible and ridged staybolts.
-New set of superheaters, the first time it has had ALL its superheaters in place since first being restored!
-Replumbed the cab.
-Replumbed all around the firebox.
-Rewired the whole engine.
-Add new plumbing to the tender.
-New arch tubes.
-New grates.
-Replumbed the air system.
-14 new bushings and washout plugs.
-All new jacketing in the cab.
-New lagging to the fire box.
Here are the pics (Yes, I know I went overboard with the vignetting):
The guys who made it all possible. (from left to right, Fred Stevens, Ron Paulson, Barney Gramling (roundhouse foreman), Jeff Lis, and Roger Parry.)
Side shots.
Brake gauges and throttle lever. We were still in the early stages of building steam (about 25 pounds) thus why everything in the cab is reading zero.
Stoker and feedwater pump gauges, boiler pressure gauge in the background.
Barney starting up the air compressors. THis is the first time that both of the cross-compound air compressors worked at the same time.
House cocks open while sitting halfway in the shop, getting ready to move out under her own power for the first time since last year.
Just a view of the cylinder, etc.
Pulling out onto the turntable.
