Dear Wed:
In order to confirm some locomotive movement, particularly ex-C&S #32 and #35, how many places can we find any railroad with Deerfield in the name? I have been doing a study of the Deerfield River Railroad Company in Vermont and there is no present know indication that the two ex-C&S narrow gauge locomotives ever came out of St.Louis and Mississippi area to Vermont. Never say never.
I will start the list with confirmed Companies:
Deerfield River Company Railroad; (Mass. section leased to the first H.T.& W. RR <1900)
Deerfield Valley Railroad: Readsboro-Wilmington when constructed and merged (few days after completion) with the DRCo.RR, HT&WRR into the Second HT&W RR)
Deerfield River Railroad Company ran 1906 to 1922.
Deerfield RR--no known company ever found with this name. Reason for search.
Deerfield Lumber Company-- name of lumber company that owned timber lands used by DRRR.
Deerfield Valley Lumber Co. In Vermont, no railroad used
Deerfield River Company, after 1906 timber land owner, had no railroad.
In New York:
Deerfield River Railroad SG, one year operation in up state limber area.
Where else??
