Hi Kevin,
My book is "The Gainesville Midland and Her Sister Short Lines". It is a book about the Gainesville Midland RR and Rwy (narrow gauge until 1914), the predicessor Gainesville Jefferson & Southern (always 36" gauge).
Several other railroads were in the area but were standard gauge short lines. At the end of the Gainesville & North Western, there was a line haul of 7 miles of dual gauge with a lumber company - The lumber company had 42" gauge trackage. I have not been able to find out much on the operation.
Of course, the early GJ&S transfered goods from its 36" gauge to 60" gauge roads.
If you would like to see a sample chapter, please check out the link below. Details are there about purchasing the book if you are interested.
Thank for the interest.
