A great railroad and scenery. The costs of renting the locos and the need to have large number of passengers make it a just a little to pricy for North Americans. However the Brits have been paying the high prices and have had a few tours?
Trains Unlimited Tours had a tour cancelled in 2002 when the limited reservations just didn't make it profitable. With the shutdown of the El Salvador system and reported closure of the Honduran 42 inch gauge system, makes it harder to have a good tour package. This leaves the Ferrovias Guatemala line the only option. If you don't mind hopping from country to country you can go to Panama, St Kitts and maybe the return of Costa Rica.
