I like Jerry ,but he kinda got mad at us ,took his ball and went home . Jerry really knows his history but is not always right .He once announced in the Narrow Gauge Gazette the he knew "for a fact"that the 480s never had a three-color herald . Since then ,a number of color photos have surfaced showing the colorful herald on 480s. I asked Jerry not to comment on the historic correctness of the painting I did for for Chile John Pritchard , of #278 at Smith Hill breaker, near Crested Butte(it was published on this website last winter). He did anyway ,and when Pritchard disputed his claims with his own history and would not back down ,he basically left . It is too bad ,as Jerry has great history based on many interviews with railroaders who worked the narrow gauge . He has been working on a book on Crested Butte branch for many years .I hope he finishes it someday.
