I remember riding behind those two locomotives a long time ago, sometime in the early '80s. They used both locomotives as a double header with a small diesel locomotive pushing from the rear to get the train up the mountain. When the train go to the switchback, they cut the train in two and front half was pushed up with the steamers, and the last few cars were pulled up with the diesel. I was probable about 10 or 11 years old so it's a little foggy for me to remember, but I do remember is being quite a show. I think the Dixiana was running as well pulling another train. I think we went to ride the train on Memorial Day.
