I've been following "Loop vs. CHS" and discovered the link to NGDF on the Georgetown Loop website. There's been some good discussion here, but it's now August and the present Loop contract ends in just sixty-one days. (BTW - I read the writings of Phil Reader and Karell Reader (related?) - very well said.)
As of today's date (8/2/04):
1) What is the status of CHS and its plan to acquire rolling stock and an operator;
2) At what stage is/are the locomotive rebuild(s) - I heard asbestos was a concern with one of the contractors;
3) Outside of Lee Behrens, what is the consensus of the other members of the Colorado Historical Society;
4) What are the cities of Georgetown and Silver Plume doing about this probable loss of a local and national resource; and
5) Has anyone heard from Governor Owens?
For what it's worth, I rode the train for the 12th time this past Saturday, and the trip was as exciting for me as it was for some friends who were riding it for the first time.
Please feel free to contact me here, or at my e-address listed above.
Thanks!
