C&TS 7-7-04

Just got back from whirlwind trip to Chama, by way of Colorado Springs. Did not have a chance to meet anyone in the stores or on the train really. Just wanted to enjoy the ride with the wife. First time riding the train all the way from Antonito to Chama, and firt time I have departed from Antonito since 1981 (Took the "Colorado Express" round trip to Osier). The ride was great, the docents (Forgot their names) were great. Scenery was spectacular of course and the 487 seemed to be running great.
First time on the bus as well (rode from Chama to Antonito). Wished I could've spent more time, I got in to chama at midnite, caught the bus at 8 and left to go back at 6:00. I thought the best thing I could do with my time and money rather than chase the train was to take it for a ride. Maybe next time I can dump some more money into the local economy and stay a day or two longer. Alas poor college students cannot afford much now.
