Hello Casey,
Your pictures are awesome, I would be very interested if you have posted more about your scratch builds. Now that my personal life is changing I will have more time and need to return to modelling and I have started a Baldwin 2-4-0 7/8ths from Brazilian 60cm prototype and I am currently stuck on wheels and what to design and print plastic wheel centers and then have steel tires turned and backing oven temperature heat shrink them on the the hubs, some of the plastics on Shapeways will work at these temperatures and it is then in compression. With this method the axles are automatically electrically isolated and you can have a few standard tire diameters and design and print the proper looking wheel centers for what ever model you are building. I have created and excel table from Baldwin drawings which should lend its self to a parametric model that can be easily changed, and reprinted until it fits.
What other modeling, newsgroups or forums showcase such scratch building? By the way I am using the electric drive from a Bachmann "Annie" 4-6-0 and the frames are water jet 5mm aluminium.
Thanks
Thor
