Unfortunately, the St. Elmo cars have been used for firewood by people!!

When I saw the cars in 1987 there was a lot more to them, but an inquiry with the Forest Service, whose property they are on indicated the real reason there wasn't more left.

With their permission, we nailed signs asking people not to steal items from these car because they are historic. The signs were too nice and people stole them. I'm guessing there are some cabins with the missing signs proudly displayed.
