I did not serve in the military. usmc1401 is a GP 9 locomotive that was at Camp Pendelton CA. My dad did serve in the Army 1944 to 1946. He was a occupation force in Japan after the war was over. One of his jobs was to ride in the steam locomotive cabs all over Japan. He made a comment that the locomotives were pre war from Philadelphia PA. He really liked the country and the people. He is now 94 years old.
