I was posting these pix elsewhere, and though they might be of interest to some folks here. This is the Jiayang Coal Railway in Sichuan Province, China. This line was reportedly built doing the Great Leap Forward which encouranged small scale local industry. The mines it serves are small and not particularly efficient, so there are recurring rumors of the line's demise. But if not efficient, it is one of the more picturesque lines in China.
