Sorry to hear.

I had occasion to meet Dirk two or three times. One or two of these involved the late Dave Garcia.

And later when I attended an annual meeting of the Railway & Locomotive Historical Society in Denver; and we had a field trip to Golden and the Museum. The 346 was fired up and the museum crew was switching cars around; Dirk was running the engine.
