D&RGW Refrigerator Car 77, 1947

Hi All,
while looking for something else I came across this negative of D&RGW Refrigerator Car No. 77 in what I suspect is 1947. Appears the car was recently worked on and the workman is getting ready to stencil the cars light weight.
I noticed the upside down star in the bottom left corner of the car, which I'm assuming is for when the car was painted. Does the upside down star mean something?
