Neat pic. And so many questions to ask. Late 1850s I’d gather, on seeing that the enginemen are wearing top hats?

And inside cylinders, but what are the big cylinder-like things sticking out of them, and what is the brass trumpet by the cab. Safety valve I’d gather?
