Exactly the same thought occurred to me yesterday, and I even went back and looked at the sample string 'A B
. . . H I' that Eric posted a few days ago to confirm my suspicions. Here's Eric's original A - I string, resized to a 1000 pixel wide

. . . and a quick-&-dirty modification with the letters B through G narrowed by one large square of his grid, and my slightly wider 'A' substituted for his

One additional minor change might be to narrow the top of the 'B' and shorten the top arm of the 'G' by one or two small squares. Also the 'C' now looks a bit large compared to the 'D', so maybe we should narrow the former and widen the latter by one or two small squares, like this further quick alteration

OOOooooops — Now it looks like I overdid the narrower 'C' and wider 'D' by one or two clicks, but the above is close enough for gummint work, IMHO.
