Hi Mr. Markoff,
I very much enjoyed reading your history of the process that went into restoring the artwork on Eureka. She really is a treasure!
I know the lettering style I have already created is not accurate to the Eureka. After I finish the current style I am working on, I will begin work on one for the Eureka, with a significantly lighter gold color, rounded corners on some glyphs, and grey drop shadows to the right and bottom. Since I am creating these for a train simulator, hopefully the developer can code the style text so that the gold leaf will actually sparkle and shine in the game's lighting engine. I only used the text "EUREKA & PALISADE" to test out how the computer spaced all of the characters of the style I had already created. I hope this did not trouble you.
I will also create a style based off of the lettering on the cab sides of the Eureka. If anyone has close-up images of that, I would much appreciate it.
One more thing, I can't seem to find good images of the numeral 4 on the sand domes of Eureka. I am having a hard time figuring out if it is in the same style as the tender lettering or the cab lettering. Would have been interesting if Eureka was delivered with her road number on the tender rear, like the Sonoma; I suppose we can only guess how that might have looked.
Thanks,
Eric
