Many of the ties had been left behind by MSP and were hidden by the years of duff. The fire burned them out and left behind their depressions:
The area had plenty of wire rope as usual:
And an unusual end to one of the pieces of wire rope:
Buried deep in the brush was a locomotive brake shoe:
I've found numerous locomotive brake shoes over the years on the MSP.

If you look at the Donald DeVere map on page 52 of Johnston's Thunder in the Mountains you'll can fit this logging area into the overall picture of MSP logging.
