Jerry-
Thanks for that! I read Lou's book when I was still a young teen and had a librarian who opened up access to other libraries (quite the thing for our rural high school). His book also influenced me. His book is more because some of what he was as referred to by your friend came through in it. And even in those days when all I thought I wanted was to see the photographs, some of that came through his text.
Some of what we are comes through what we relate, more in photographs than I realized, I see. I am not glad you have an injured foot (I also have one). But I am glad it puts you at trackside while Olaf and others on the hill. It's kind of like having two webcams! But better because with a webcam I only get what the camera sees but with you folks I get what those who are skilled photographers and long time observers and experiencers can see. The latter is a much richer story though I appreciate the webcams, too.
There is a wonderful old Tolkien short story called
Leaf by Niggle which closes with the line, "It might have been different but it couldn't have been better...." The storyteller is part of the story and that to me is a very good thing.
