Most of the shop employees are back to work. A few are working, as needed, either part or full time in jobs other than their normal occupations. The railroad's management has made an honest effort to put as many of the employees as possible back to work again as soon as work and operations could resume.
Reassembly of 107 continues. The rebuilt main generator is on site and ready to install.
Firebox sheet replacement is in full swing on 473. A new inner door sheet has been formed in the shop and is in the process of being welded and riveted in place. Some of the stay bolts have been installed with many more still to be done. The tender cistern is being rebuilt. It has received a new bottom and some of the side and slope sheets are being replaced.
Final driver tramming work is in progress on 480 and installation of the rods will begin soon. Most of the rod bushing work had been completed before the shutdown. Design work for the conversion of the K-36 class locomotives to burn oil is being done and fabrication and installation of that equipment on 480 is planned to begin in the near future. Barring any last minute changes it appears that it will be the test subject of its class.
