I was just telling what the crews told me. Since I was in Grand Junction at the time and could not observe on a daily basis, this is the only info that I had.
As far as Coal goes, though, I'm sure that you're aware that different applications call for different grades of coal. I've hauled a lot of coal past the Hanna and Rock Springs coal fields on its way west, so coal into Ridgway, especially if it was loaded on a carload basis at Paoina, Somerset or Hotchkiss would not surprise me in the least. When I started on the UP in the late '70's we had an older underground mine at Hanna who loded single carloads using an old tipple and would custom screen and wash coal to the customer specifications. It closed in the mid-90's. Based on this fact, single carloads would also not be unusual.
