Benny and Bill Holt did not get along, and it went way back. While the first train into Chama was waiting at the Chama road crossing for a broken rail to get fixed, Bill Holt climbed into the cab and announced that HE was the senior man and HE would be running the engine into Chama.

Benny gave him the steely eye and said, "If you try that, I'll throw you out of the cab myself" ...and he would have.
