I think that the K-37's had Standard Gauge tenders that came with them and were converted to narrow gauge. As the Consolidations that they were built from had been inservice nearly 25 years when they were converted to NG I suspect that you may be looking at some changes that were made long before they became K-37's and might even be from other classes of Standard gauge consolidations from the period.
