Stopping at Como was always a must for me and my family on camping trips, train chasing, climbing 14’ers, and exploring abandoned railroad grades. I recall that the Denver to Leadville passenger train had to back into Como after turning on the wye which I remember was part of the short branch to a coal mine (King Coal Co.?). I see there are plans to extend the track to the wye. Is there enough of the wye area left alone to rebuild it and recreate the train having to back into Como so it was pointed in the right direction for its trip to Leadville? I believe US 285 is East of the wye location and not on top of it. Who owns the land the wye is on and are they willing to allow access?
Thanks.
