As IIRC it would have been the day after the "whiteout" incident that I first met you and Ernie when my friends and I joined youse guys on a hillside above the S-Curves watching the first eastbound train in several weeks fight the weeds (see [
ngdiscussion.net]
et seq). I vaguely remember the train gaining about 1/4 mile during an hour or so of spinning, sliding backward, sanding, charging ahead, and spinning out again. Too bad your friend Jim wasn't there as well — he wouldn't have needed any oil!
