Re: "Dark" places on the narrow gauge - Bocea Hill

Here is a view of the curve leading into the long Bocea loop from the Durango side, unfortunately only as a screen shot from 8mm movies. The first lumber load behind 476 and the gondola of coal should be on the still-existing trestle (November 9, 1967). This was also the scene of the 1958 derailment of 483 and 494.



Here are a couple of screen shots of the same train approaching the highway 160 crossing (the last time 476 crossed here eastbound)





Another view of the highway 160 crossing on August 15, 1966, after an extended struggle by 483 and 492 attempting to get past a stretch of rail oiled by Jim Marcus for filming a spinning-out double header. Note the sand bags on the running boards of both engines obtained from Durango after backing the train to Carbon Junction to refill their exhausted sand supply.
