In Kansas Central Narrow Gauge by I. E. Quaslter, the roster notes show KC #12 as "First service November 1882 as Denver, South Park & Pacific No. 39. Sold to KC..." and KC # 13 as "First service November 1882 as Denver, South Park & Pacific No. 40. Sold to KC..."
I don't see any reference to this in the rosters in CRA 12 or Poor's DSP&P. They only show the Cooke 2-6-0s as DSP&P #39 & #40.
