The white object in the photo just above the stencil seems to be a PVC pipe. I was going to make make a smart remark about the [recent] historical lineage of PVC pipe, but on checking it seems that PVC itself was made in 1835, although the first PVC
pipes didn't come about until the
early 1930s.
So I quit thinking smart remark,
but I am still curious what that PVC pipe is used for.
