SP NG 18 - daily train ticket options

I am curious how the SP NG 18 was being used in 'daily' service these days on the D&S ?
And can you buy a ticket to ride behind a daily train pulled by 18?
...if so how to request, or is it random luck of the draw.

I just called the D&S Reservation lines to ask about options and created a confused person when I asked about the SP NG 18 options. Was put on a brief hold then told, it is currently not running.

Just curious so asking, as a quick search in recent postings did not find these answers....
