They had 951 and an SD60 when I saw it on the trip to California, then to Salt Lake, then to Portland and Back to Cheyenne in 1989. 8444 was the power, and the E unit 951 was behind the engine. From what I have read none of the historic diesels are operational. I have a big boy video that shows one, helping a passenger train with E-Units behind the 4000. So yes the E-units would look better.
