We were there 2 times in the 1971 season. Wasn't an employee, just a fan from the old D&RGW days. We did meet Mike Carr in Chama. My brother said something about helping, and Mike gave him a shovel to start moving some ashes from the engine ash pit. So he did the work, and we got a big kick out of it. We were there in June, and September 1971. One trip was with the parents, and the other 4 guys 16-20 years old went there with a u-haul open trailer with 2 motorcycles. We thought we could go anywhere with them, but quickly learned that was not the case. We went out toward Lava and right where the old sagebrush road crossed the railroad the bikes kept stalling out. Turns out the carburetors had to be adjusted. Later we went back to Osier. It had rained and the road was a slick muddy mess. My brother and his friend were riding the bikes, and I shot a little film of them sliding around. I don't think we attempted driving down through the curves into Osier.
Anyway all those guys you mentioned were probably there in 1971, we just didn't want to get in the way. But, Mike Carr I do remember!
