The plan was to send her home in May but 20 is still resisting. So the entry in the Iron Horse news is now incorrect. Sorry about that. At this time we are working closely with the Strasburg railroad to complete the remaining tasks on their list and have her loaded in the next few weeks. Further details to come. Don't worry we will let the railfan community know when she is home.
She will come home looking more or less like a complete locomotive sans the cab.
The boiler is permanently mounted on the frame, and the smokebox is riveted to the boiler. The running gear is nearly assembled, and the front end in the smokebox is being assembled.
The boiler is even lagged and jacketed.
Once home in Golden we will begin the final assembly of the locomotive. This includes all air brake plumbing, installation of appliances, mounting the cab, electeical, paint and lettering and many other small pieces.
This is something we will take our time with to get it right. Please stay tuned and bare with us.
I'll let Kelly Anderson post photos of her progress.
