Our records here at the LK&P show that on December 21, 1990 we took delivery of 6 flat cars from White Pass. The records show flat cars 1143, 1151, 1155, 1159, 1160 & 1171. That being said I went out to look at the cars today. Coaches 104-109 are all built on the old flat car frames. Coach 105 is built from 1159 and 106 is built from 1171. During the rebuild from flat cars to coaches the mechanics placed the original White Pass numbers on the frames of the coaches. Unfortunately they were vinyl decals and most have fallen off the cars. I can only confirm that 1159, 1171 and 1177 are here at the LK&P. 1171 along with 2 other White Pass flatcars are currently stored off rails/trucks stacked on top of each other.
We do have one flat car on rails presently being used as a MoW car to carry supplies, it looks like the one pictured in the pervious reply. The plan for this flat car is to eventually make it into an open air car similar to what the Kahului Railroad used for fan trips in the railroads later years.
We also have another flatcar sitting next to our old paint booth. It is mostly covered by brush and weeds but I did find lettering on it indicating it was a former Navy car.
So in total I can say we have 10 former White Pass flat cars here. 6 rebuilt as coaches 104-109, one being used as a MoW flat and 3 off live rail in “Storage.”
