Those NGDF'ers who don't follow The Friend's website regularly may not have noticed -
Last year Tom Gildersleeve donated 800 of his fabulous color photos to The Friends, and these are now viewable on-line at [ngtrainpics.photoshelter.com]. 285 of the photos feature the Cumbres & Toltec and Durango & Silverton railroads, the remainder cover the Denver & Rio Grande Western narrow gauge operations during 1960-65. Per The Friends' website Tom began doing photography at the age of eleven, and
"He was recognized for his creative color photography documenting railroad history for more than 60 years by the Locomotive & Railway Historical Society in 2014. His beautiful photos have been published in over 48 books and many magazines, calendars and cards."
Tom's DVD-based slide show of his favorite
Rio Grande color shots was featured along with Ernie Robart's and Olaf Rasmussen's B&W photos during the Saturday evening banquet at Cumbres Pass in August, 2018, during the
TRAINS Magazine commemoration of the Last Freights on the San Juan Extension fifty years earlier.
