Myrick has stated the railroad was 20" gauge. There are two periods of the Hackberry Railroad listed by Myrick. The first Hackberry was built in 1890 and removed in 1897. The second Hackberry was built in 1904 by George Treadwell and shutdown in 1907 and removed in the succeeding years. The first railroad was stated by Myrick as 20" baby gauge railroad while not listing the gauge of the second Hackberry. Known locomotive was built by H. K. Porter #1201 as their #1, I am assuming it was built new at the time as the operation was under control by Phelps Dodge.
We have witnessed valley
and plain and crest,
Canon and pass we've scanned;
We have seen the best
of the glorious West,
by the trail of the Rio Grande
