Re: Remembering Ernie...

I was lucky enough to have met Ernie on my last trip but one to the US. Arranged by legendary honorary Aussie Russo Loco (or was it Willie?) (after an iconic lunch with Russ who came down to LA and John Cole at Philippe's and an overnight jaunt on the SW Chief) Ernie looked after us for the day in ABQ, organising a private tour of SF 2926 and checking out some of the modern scene down at Belen, after which we went to dinner. A very knowledgeable man and very generous and gracious with his time. The subject of the (recently closed) operation on the old Creed branch came up in conversation and I was honored to have been able to send him some pics I had taken a couple of years earlier that he had not seen.

I know one day does not a lifetime make, but a true gentleman, and although we didn't correspond often, it will be missed.

If there is one positive, it was relatively quick.

Godspeed...
