Thanks John, stranger is right. A couple of the engineers that I knew laughingly referred to the 900s as "toys".

Easy to recognize that locale as Escuintla with 116,124,154 and 203 in the house. They were regulars in the late years. 124 had a suspect boiler by 1973, but was still used to serve the refinery a few miles out of town. They wouldn't let us ride her because of that.

181 sure got around. Al Shelton & I saw her work a train into Zacapa on the Atlantic Division after dark in March of the same year. We heard her whistle coming into town from Barrios and she sounded great. So much so that we excused ourselves from the dinner table and motioned to our waiter in the dining room of the Hotel Ferrocarril that we were going outside for a moment. We got a knowing grin and nod from him.
