Thank you for letting us know, Earl – the ranks of the D&RGW crews from the mid- and late sixties are indeed getting thin.

Gayle and Jim worked together as firemen on the last real freights over Cumbres on August 28 & 29, 1968; Gayle was on the helper both days and Jim on the road engine.  There's a photo of both of them hard at work on [ngdiscussion.net], and a photo of Gayle creating a little mischief at the top of the post at [ngdiscussion.net].
