The Georgetown Loop replaced the tender tank on #40 in early 1997. When I saw the pieces of it on the ground, I got the idea to move it to Como and letter it to match the builder's photos of the tenders on the Cooke locomotives from 1883/1884. I arranged through Phil Johnson of the Loop to have the two pieces that made up one side set aside, and with Bill Kazel (who then owned the roundhouse in Como) to pick them up. Bill moved them to his property in Idaho Springs and welded the pieces together, and then I cleaned it up and painted and lettered it. Bill then brought it to Como and set it up where it sits today. The sign that now sits in front of the tender side hides the weld between the two pieces. These photos were taken in Silver Plume on January 4, 1997:
