I too remember that particular e-mail requesting photos of the last D&RGW train to Silverton during the 1979 season. I have several photos of the engine and crew in the Durango yard but no close-ups of the engineer. The Monday, October 8, 1979 issue of the Durango Herald has a close-up photo of engineer Carl Jack. Another photo shows the last train entering the yards (less the Mickey D building). Both photos were on the front page. The Durango Herald may archive these photos.
