We have both letter boards from D&RGW 0577 in Cheyenne and we cut out and removed all the numbers and logos, never understand anyone who chops stuff up like that without even a thought, very strange historical preservation.
I have most of the caboose numbers i couldnt save and all of Big Boy 4004s boiler jacket and firebox cab sheeting, i even tore down a shed made from UP CA1 caboose wood and re used the wood on my CA restoration. Kept most of Pullman car 57s floors and reused it in CA 2516, you cant save enough of these historical pieces. I recently re used all the internal wall T&G from UP CA 2455 demolished in 2014 in UP CA 2409, cursed the wood every time i tripped over it in the intervening years.
Just to bring people up to date with what we now have in Cheyenne High Plains Railroad Preservation now own or restoring UP NCS 1880 caboose 2095, UP NCS 1901 caboose 2267, UP CA 1907 caboose 2409, UP CA 1913 caboose 2516, and UP CA1 1923 caboose 3171 as well as Pullman car 57 of course. We also have just found UP NCS 1880 caboose 2095 and St J&GI 1902 caboose 34 and been offered these along with UP/Mt Hood caboose 7 from 1924.
Visitors always welcome as are donations !
