The inspection pit at Sargents was inside the roundhouse. It was build in 1904 to accommodate the K-27s. The roundhouse could accommodate K-27s and K-28s but not K-36s and K-37s. After 1928 it was not used. The turntable remained in use until 1940, the helper engines were kept outside and were serviced either at Gunnison or Salida.

Sargents is a very quiet place, all the Rio Grande hill crew are gone and only the watchmen of the railroad crew are left.
