A couple of weeks ago I noted my purchase of a real photo post card of the D&RGW 346 in revenue service, with mis-matched domes on top.
I asked when or where the replacements displayed on the engine at the museum came from.
Bob richardson's newest book answered my question. The replacement domes came from the D&RGW 345, which was wrecked in a movie.
The book, Chasing Trains, is a horizontal format photo album telling the story of the authors years in Alamosa from 1948 to 1858. Views of the narrow gauge in all seasons, and great photos of details like the duel gauge couplers on some of the switch engines.
Views of what happens to wood frame flat cars and others when the brakes are applied too hard.
A neat story of the time that the motel was so full, that Bob slept in the caboose 0500 and then he even put a person in the second bunk!
Get the book, Uncle Bob scores again!
