While building a representative of the Ouray engine house, I am stumped by this comment on the valuation sheet: "two doors 2'6" by 6'6"(or thereabouts)". That means there were two "people" doors somewhere in the building. The question is where? Dorman has two photos under the Ouray file that show only two engine sized doors in the front. Other photos are rather vague but one side view possibly shows a people door in the front right side. Photo RD037-087 left window above the tree might show the top of a door? The question is where were these people doors? I have an idea but am just not sure: one was on the left side near the front of the house. That would give easy access to the coal gondolas. The second is in the rear of the house as nothing shows in RD037-087. Of course that does not rule out both on the same side of the house but catty-corner seems a better location. AND all the photos show a dark building so it this the brownish-red paint and the engine house was never repainted yellow? Boy is this fun! Paul.
