Re: Logging along the narrow gauge

As someone interested in narrow gauge logging RR's, seeing a modern example of log loading using a spar pole is awesome. Lots of great detail I hadn't been able to see in old photos, and this a nice modern color image. This will help tremendously with a future modeling project. Any idea what they were using for power to move the line, some type of steam donkey maybe hopefully? Looking behind the tough little guys loading logs, it appears they've already loaded a decent number of cars.. And this train is used for logging, which means ugly or not, it's beautiful and always great to see. In images 4 and 5, is that a boxy looking caboose / van at the tail end of the train or something else?
