I wrote the history of OB in Bob Grandts Narrow Gauge Pictorial Volume 7

I also wrote two history articles on OB in the Rio Grande Modeling & Historical Society's Prospector Magazine. None of the D&RGW records show the weight of the "hammer." I am guessing they had to be replaced often. Perhaps the Friends staff that rebuild OB know the weight. It is an awesome machine. I met a D&RGW engineer years ago who was firing engine 317 at Crested Butte and he told of pushing OB to the end of the Anthracite Branch to rebuild a small trestle taken out by a snow slide....that trestle is still there so OB must have done a good job.
