Good Find, Bruce -
But, as Willie noted above, you can always count on the good old government to screw things up – or at least to omit a detail from time to time. IMHO, the best way to distinguish all three La Veta Passes from one another is to leave the original name – LA Veta Pass – with the original (narrow gauge RR / old highway) location, name the subsequently re-routed railroad summit SOUTH La Veta Pass, and the most recently re-routed highway summit NORTH La Veta Pass.

p.s. Of course you could rename them in honor of Los Tres Curmudgeoños
: John West claims to be 'El Curmudgeon del Norte', Tom Gildersleeve is 'El Curmudgeon del Sur, and I am either 'El Curmudgeonito' or 'El Curmudgeoño de la Costa del Oro (the former being more appropriate for the 'Little', or narrow gauge, pass – 'El Passito de La Veta'). IIRC, Roger Hogan also once claimed to be "one o' them Curmudgeons", but I'm not sure that JBWX ever approved of his formal admission to the Fraternal Union of Curmudgeonly Geezers (aka The Old FUCGers).
